27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards Nominees Announced

The one-hour special will air exclusively on Logo this April.

GLAAD, the world’s preeminent LGBT media advocacy organization, this morning announced the nominations for its 27th annual GLAAD Media Awards, which recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of the LGBT community and the issues that affect our lives.

This year's nominees include Academy Award nominees Carol and The Danish Girl, plus Netflix's Sense 8, Orange is the New Black and Grace and Frankie, Amazon Prime's groundbreaking series Transparent, as well as ABC’s 20/20 for its groundbreaking Diane Sawyer interview with Caitlyn Jenner.

Miley Cyrus, Adam Lambert and Troye Sivan all secured nominations as well for Outstanding Music Artist.

Logo picked up two nominations for its series Cucumber and Banana as well as an early win for digital series, Beautiful As I Want To Be, which nabbed a Special Recognition award.

“For nearly three decades, the GLAAD Media Awards have propelled inclusion in media and driven LGBT acceptance forward,” said GLAAD CEO & President Sarah Kate Ellis. “This year’s nominees have raised the bar for creating thoughtful and diverse LGBT images and storylines, deepening audiences’ understanding of LGBT people and accelerating acceptance across the world.”

The 27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards will air April 4 at 10/9c on Logo.
