Singer Wows "The Voice UK" — And Boy George — With Stunning "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" Cover

Vangelis Polydorou FTW!

Boy George came face-to-face with a younger version of himself on The Voice UK stage recently — a young, half Greek, half Scottish singer named Vangelis Polydorou, who shone brightly with his rendition of George's "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" during blind auditions.

"You've got a vulnerability to your voice," the Culture Club frontman told the young singer. "But I’ll tell you a funny story, when the record company wanted to put that out I was really against it because for me it was really personal."

"It was about a relationship and I thought it was too slow, and I marched into the record company and told them: 'If you put this out, my career's over,'" the '80s icon admitted. "Little did I know that it was the beginning of my career because when you put out songs that are honest and true, that’s when you really connect with people."

George was clearly moved by the performance and even rang in first to "keep" Vangelis on his team for the remainder of the season.

"George is so honest and he’s got a lot of experience; I need that. I want a coach that’s going to be honest with me," Vangelis told Gay Times. "I love all his songs and his vibe, but I think it was him as a person overall that I really respected. He’s so honest and direct and I quite like that."
