RuPaul Is An Emmy Winner—Again!

Snatchin' trophies!

Last year, RuPaul walked away with the Emmy for Outstanding Host of a Variety, Nonfiction Or Reality Program. Tonight, he won the award for the second consecutive year.

"Thank you Television Academy, so much, you make this queen so proud," Ru said in his recorded acceptance speech from the DragCon convention floor.

RuPaul's Drag Race was nominated for a total of seven Emmys—taking home awards for Outstanding Costumes and Picture Editing. The show is also up for Best Reality Competition Series at the Primetime Emmys, airing September 17 on CBS.

“The message of our show which is positivity and acceptance and we’re so honored to bring that message to a world that needs it more than ever," said lead editor Jamie Martin, accepting the award, given for the Season Nine premiere, "Oh. My. Gaga!," which saw pop megastar Lady Gaga judge the latest batch of queens. (Gaga also won a Creative Arts Emmy for Outstanding Lighting for her Super Bowl halftime show.)

The Emmy wins cap off a big year for RuPaul's Drag Race: The reality series moved to VH1 and broke ratings records. This weekend was also the first RuPaul's DragCon in New York City.

The Creative Arts Emmys air next Saturday, September 16, on FXX. The Primetime Emmys will air the following day, Sunday, September 17, on CBS.

RuPaul's Drag Race Season 9: RuVealed airs Thursdays at 8/7c on Logo.
