Day Of Silence Prep: Tell Your Governor To Support Trans Students And Donate To GLSEN

GLSEN’s Day of Silence is Friday, April 21.

5 Dollars/5 Minutes is a regular feature to help direct you to simple, inexpensive ways to act against discrimination and to protect the rights of the LGBT community—and all people—endangered by the Trump administration.

Sometimes silence can be more powerful than words: Each year the Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network (GLSEN) sponsors a Day of Silence, when students in thousands of schools raise awareness about anti-LGBT bullying and harassment by taking a daylong vow of silence.

This year's Day of Silence is Friday, April 21, but you can help out earlier.

For more than 25 years, GLSEN has been educating schools on LGBT issues and making sure every student, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, can learn in a supportive environment.

Got Five Minutes?

GLSEN makes it fast and easy to write your governor to support transgender youth: Enter your zip code on this page and you’ll be taken to a template letter that explains why—with the Trump administration's decision to rescind protections— it's more important than ever that trans students know their schools are safe, affirming, and inclusive.
