Anyone who follows Ross Mathews on social media knows that the RuPaul's Drag Race judge has been spending a lot more time on the East Coast, specifically New York City. That's because he has been dating a mystery man for the past year, a relationship he has kept out of the public eye — until today, when Matthews announced that he is engaged to his beau, Dr. Wellington Garcia.

Matthews shared the news on his social media with a picture of him and Garcia. "I am so proud to announce that after over a year together —navigating a pandemic, quarantine and opposite coasts — the smartest, funniest and kindest man I’ve ever met said, 'Yes!'" he wrote. "Dr. García, I love you. A lifetime of adventure awaits."

Mathews also announced the engagement on The Drew Barrymore Show, where he co-hosts the "Drew's News" segment of the daily talk show.

"I've been so private about this relationship, and it feels so weird because I tell you guys everything... so I'm so happy to be sharing this with all of you," he told Barrymore and the audience, explaining how he met Garcia right before the pandemic and made their budding relationship work during lockdown.

In 2018, Mathews and his previous partner, Salvador Camarena, announced that they were splitting after nearly a decade together. “This split is amicable and filled with kindness, compassion and a genuine love for one another," Matthews wrote on Instagram at the time. "As we go forward, each of us feels as if he has a cheerleader in our corner — a family member for life. We are happy. Thank you all for your well wishes and love.”

In addition to appearing on Drag Race and The Drew Barrymore Show, Mathews has kept busy with his popular podcast, Straight Talk. He also released his second book, Name Drop, and is co-designing kaftans with the fashion brand Kaftko. And now he'll have a wedding to plan!
