Father Reportedly Refused To Claim Orlando Shooting Victim's Body Because He Was Gay

When LGBT people suffer injustice, they can be revictimized by their families and communities.

The names of the victims of the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub are known; their bodies have been released to their next of kin for burial.

But in a cruel twist that highlights the bigotry so many in the LGBT community still face, one parent reportedly refused to claim the corpse of his gay son, because he disapproved of his homosexuality.

Orlando Latino reports that family members in Orlando agreed to claim the body of the young Puerto Rican man, whose name is being kept private, and gave him a proper burial.

"The tale is part of the untold stories of the Latino victims of the Pulse nightclub massacre," writes Maria Padilla, who says the blog confirmed the story with several sources.
