RuPaul Reads the Straight Pride Parade, Trump’s LGBTQ Tweets

“I don’t even want to pay any attention to that old fool.”

Mama always knows best.

As a guest this week on The View, RuPaul was asked to weigh in on the so-called straight pride parade that's being planning in Boston.

"We go back to the ego," the Emmy-winning RuPaul's Drag Race host explains to the ladies, "how the ego wants to say, ‘Oh, um, I have a question! Pay attention to me! Um, hello! Is anybody watching me?’"

“It’s Pride season," he continues. "We’re talking about shame. We want to sort of balance the conversation by giving people pride. But the truth is, the opposite of shame isn’t pride. The opposite of shame is love."

"So what we are doing is calling attention to love. That’s the key to the Pride celebration."

Ru also addresses President Trump’s recent surprise tweets supporting the LGBTQ community and celebrating Pride Month.

“I have one thing to say about that: Actions speak louder than tweets,” he says. Further pressed by View co-host Joy Behar, he adds, “I don’t even want to pay any attention to that old fool.”

Ru took the time to enjoy The View while plugging his new talk show, RuPaul, which launches in select Fox markets June 10 for a three-week trial run. He teased a runway on the set and special guests like Sen. Cory Booker, Paula Abdul, and Adam Lambert.

His many other upcoming projects include the new Netflix series AJ and the Queen and the launch of RuPaul’s Drag Race U.K. on BBC Three.
